R.M. Pyles Boys Camp is proud to welcome two new talented and passionate people to our full-time staff. Please join us in welcoming Kendra “Presta” Rhodes and Monica “Gadget” Mendoza.

We are sharing some difficult news concerning 2023 summer programming. Unfortunately due to two weather-related events, we are unable to begin this summer at our home camp in Lloyd Meadows. Please read on to learn more about the issues, and most importantly, what we are doing to ensure we serve our program participants this summer.

R.M. Pyles Boys Camp’s Executive Director, Adam Bell has announced he will step down later in 2023, after leading the organization successfully since 2016. The Board of Directors has initiated an Executive leadership search for Adam’s replacement, with a candidate search now underway. Adam will continue in his leadership role throughout the transition, with the full support of the Pyles Camp Board to further progress the immense success of the Camp’s nearly 75 year program.

We are pleased to announce that the 2022 Pylet is now available. This annual yearbook is written for, and delivered to all of our campers from last summer.

R.M. Pyles Boys Camp, which allows at-risk youth to attend a multi-year summer wilderness camp and receive mentorship throughout the year at no cost, continued its legacy of educational support by issuing scholarships to 7 young men in 2022, totaling $8,250.

On Thursday, October 27, 2022, R.M. Pyles Boys Camp was inducted as a Member Camp as part of the Western Association of Independent Camps.

Linda Alonso, mother of Pyles Alum, “Jester,” has been working hard to raise funds to support the next generation of Pyles Campers.

I grew up in South Los Angeles in the early 90s, where drugs and violence were rampant. Both of my parents struggled personally to provide for our family. When I was about 11, my parents divorced, leaving my siblings and me to pick up the pieces. Although my parents continued to struggle, I knew I wanted more out of life than the struggle my parents faced.
