Tug-of-War has been taking place for decades at R.M. Pyles Boys Camp. This simple activity offers more than meets the eye.
Tug-of-War is the last activity, on the last full day of our first-year camper program. After spending 11 days at Pyles, including 5 days hiking in the mountains, these young men are offering their last bit of effort towards a common goal. It’s not important which team wins, but rather that each person gives all that they have in support of their team. When they return to the city, it is our hope that they give this same level of effort in all that they do.
We’ve compiled some of our favorite photos from summer 2019’s Tug-of-War competitions. We think these photos show the dedication, grit, and determination that our campers learned over the course of the camper session. This trait was within them all along, and by completing the Pyles Camper program, they have learned to harness that trait.
